I started Nifty Camera Straps in January 2019 and as this small little business grows I've realised I want to document its leaps and any downfalls with you
In 2019, I received 110 orders and hosted one market stall at the Glebe Markets in Sydney. Selling on Etsy.com has allowed me to utilise Etsy's household name and use the platform to promote my brand and though buying the domain name of niftycamerastraps.com was expensive and time consuming to set up, the independence feels motivating.
I want this small little business to grow and succeed for various reasons:
1. I don't want to feel like a failure. Trust me, I've spent numerous nights screaming at my sewing machine begging for it to magically fix its stitch but knowing customers and family and friends are out there watching me is a little daunting but motivating at the same time.
2. The income. With my set up costs my profits in 2019 were embarrassingly small but I'm hoping to change that in 2020.
3. I want to work for myself. I love my 9-5 Monday to Friday professional job in the city. I really do. But I also long to be my own boss and have creative control over everything.
4. I'm here for the journey. I'm genuinely love the idea of customising your own camera, why customise our phone with phone covers don't we? It's not just all for protection. I'm here to see how far Nifty Camera Straps can grow with determination, love and support.
